Academic Summer Camps

SuperCamp Staff Profiles

Wondering what kind of people orchestrate the SuperCamp experience? Each of these energetic educators will lead one of our SuperCamp locations this summer.

Ben Balkwill
Ben joined the Quantum Learning Network in 2003 and has held a variety of SuperCamp positions since then. He attended the University of Windsor, Ontario, where he earned an Honors degree in Business Administration and a Minor in Mathematics, in addition to his Bachelor's education. Ben has been teaching since 2003 and is a triathlon race director and advanced lifesaving course instructor. Winner of Disney's Partner in Excellence Award, he is the head coach of a swim team with athletes that range in age from six to seventeen.

Kelly Pozzoli
Kelly has a BA in communication from the University of Missouri - Columbia and a M.Ed. in Creative Arts in Learning and Elementary Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.  She is originally from St. Louis and now teaches 1st grade in Chicago Public Schools.  Kelly has worked with QLN since 2005.  In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, snowboarding, and traveling.

Weston Kieschnick
Weston graduated with Distinction from Iowa State University with a B.S. in History. He holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Weston became a full time high school teacher at the age of 21, and has since been afforded the opportunity to work with kids from places like: Bermuda, California, Colorado, England, Illinois, Iowa, Jamaica, New Mexico, New York, Portugal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Tennessee, and Texas. An exercise enthusiast, Weston was a collegiate athlete and is currently training for his second marathon. He currently resides in Denver, Colorado with his wife and newborn son. Weston has been with QLN since 2001.

Jessica Neenan
Jessica attended SuperCamp in eighth grade, and has been a facilitator with QLN since 2000. She graduated Utah State University as an Academic All-American with a degree in Elementary Education, received her Masters in Educational Counseling, and is currently working on her Doctorate in Early Childhood Development. A keen gymnast, Jessica was captain of the gymnastics team while at Utah State, and also led the Chess Club at The Centennial Academy for Fine Arts. She currently resides in Del Mar with her husband and son.

Karen Borbolla
Karen Borbolla earned her teacher certification in K-12 art education along with her Bachelor of Fine Arts. She also has earned her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. Most recently, Karen earned a postgraduate certification in brain-based education. She is married, mother of three young children and teaches elementary art by day and college level Para educator curriculum and theory classes by night. She enjoys her role as a figure skating coach, concerts and writing musicals. This will be her Fifth summer with Quantum Learning Network.
Liesl Pykles
A graduate of Brigham Young University (BA Mathematics Education and MA Education), Liesl had the opportunity to design curriculum with NASA while completing her Master's degree. She was a high school math teacher for several years and worked with a diverse population of students. Liesl has been a facilitator with Quantum Learning Network since 2002, working with teachers and students all over the world, and is currently a full-time programs facilitator for QLN in Oceanside, California. An avid runner, she completed her first marathon in 2004.

Cheyenne Correia-Foster

Cheyenne Foster
Cheyenne has been with QLN since 2005. Cheyenne earned an Honors BA in Education from Westminster College, and two M.Ed. in Educational Diversity and Curriculum Instruction. From Las Vegas, she has been teaching elementary and secondary inclusion for the past 11 years. She also enjoys coaching cheerleading while being the student council and year book advisor. In her free time, Cheyenne loves to hang out with her animals, teach meditation, and write children's books. She is currently working on her Doctorate in Natural Health and Holistic Nutrition.
Amy Smith
Amy has a degree in education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has taught a variety of subjects, from fifth grade to eighth grade algebra and high school academic strategies courses. Amy works full time for QLN and spends her time traveling to train both teachers and students in QL strategies. Amy has worked internationally in such places as Hong Kong, Korea, Bermuda, and Indonesia. Amy loves dancing - hip hop, ballroom, and salsa are her favorites. She has been associated with QLN since 2003.

Chase

Chase Mielke
Chase graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's in English Education and Communications from Western Michigan University. He was born and currently resides in Michigan where he teaches high school Language Arts and Interpersonal Communication at Plainwell Community Schools. Presently, he is working on his Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. Aside from teaching, he loves coaching soccer, fitness and writing/performing music. He has worked with QLN since 2008.
